W. Joe Deshotel pictured in the lobby of The First City Building in downtown Beaumont where he shares an office with his father Joe Deshotel. Deshotel was born into politics, and appears to have a natural born affinity for political life. Before graduating from college, he was the executive director of the Jefferson County Democratic Party, and after he graduated, worked in the Texas Legislature.
