  • Ivan Sellers was on the 1964 Vidor football team, which was the last team to make it as far into the playoffs as this year’s team. Sellers, an offensive and defensive lineman who went on to serve in the Army in Vietnam, still has his letter jacket. Failing eyesight forced him to leave his job as an electrician for Mobil in 1987.

Ricky and Deborah Tailgate at Lamar Home Games

Viator will barbecue 150 pork chops today for his regular Lamar football tailgate, where he shares the food with several dozen friends and family. His son, Joseph, is a junior on the Lamar football team. The pit is capable of doing up to 175 pounds of meat, and is selfcontained with a generator when he is set up in the parking lot.
