Autumn Color in Southeast Texas
19 photos

While leaf peeping almost is a sport in the northeastern part of the country, Texas also has opportunities for autumn color watchers. Trees, bushes and vines transform from green to a brilliantly-colored landscape. The peak time to watch for leaf color changes in Southeast Texas is now. Temperature, light, and water influence the intensity and duration of the fall display. This year’s drought and heat have impacted the fall foliage by forcing some trees to turn and drop most of their leaves before having time to develop brilliant colors. But pockets of autumn splendor can still be found.
