False Alarm at Early Childhood Campus

  • Lumberton’s Early Childhood Campus was evacuated just after 10:30 a.m., Thursday after a zone one fire alarm sounded throughout the building. Kindergarten through first grade students remained outside for half-an-hour while Lumberton police, fire fighters and EMS checked the Main Street building. No evidence of fire or smoke was found, however and students were returned to class just after 11 a.m. Fire department officials said they don’t yet know what caused the false alarm.
