This magnolia tree marks the homestead site of Noah Tevis in downtown Beaumont on Tuesday, April 22, 2008. A marker erected by the State of Texas in 1936 details Tevis' legacy. He came to Texas in 1826 and built a cabin on a bluff later known as Tevis' Bluff on land not granted until 1835, when the town of Beaumont was laid out.
