Shad Ireland, a kidney patient, who is on a 4,000 mile bike tour across the country, arrived at Fresenius Medical Care in Beaumont ahead of schedule. He's stopping off for dialysis treatment every other day during his trip. His ride is to promote education about kidney disease and inspire fellow sufferers to not let their illness keep them from leading active lives.

Ruth Johnson, 87, who is "used" to having high water from the Sabine River at her back porch, talks about what it has been like the last couple of days in Deweyville. The water in her backyard was almost to the top step of her porch over the weekend, but as of Monday afternoon, had dropped to about a depth of 3 1/2 feet. The Sabine River is approximately 25 feet from her back door.

China resident Jo Ann Johnson stands near what is left of her home at 1028 Turner Road in China. Around 6 a.m. Monday morning, a storm moved through the area with very high winds and heavy rain. The Johnson's were in the home directly behind her. Both mobile homes on the property were destroyed and they will salvage what they can of their personal property.
